On this page viewers can link to older   bodies of work categorized by years and/ or subject matter (starting with works from 2010 and going back to 1986).  I've had quite a journey as an artist and the earlier bodies of work have a connection to the later periods. 

     During the course of my long exploration of nature as subject matter, I have experimented with various formats and styles  My earliest landscapes from over 25 years ago were influenced by works of German Expressionists.   A period of abstraction between the years of 2000 and 2002 produced works such as Blue Pool, Rocks and Lizards and Organic Shapes.

     Between the years of 2002 and 2011, I continued to experiment with abstraction, but also began producing atmospheric landscapes that evoke the diffused forms and color of 19th century Luminest painters such as Inness and Twatchman.   In these paintings, I explored the landscape primarily from the effects of light and color.
